Dixons Newall Green Academy

Overview

Bennett Architectural was commissioned to deliver elements of the aluminium glazing systems for Everton Football Club’s new stadium, working in close collaboration with Laing O’Rourke. The project was defined by strong partnership, clear communication, and exceptional teamwork from start to finish.

Our involvement contributed to the successful completion of one of the UK’s most high-profile sports developments, and we are extremely proud of the role our team played in bringing the project to life.

The Challenge

The stadium environment presented several key requirements:

  • Enhanced security performance
  • High acoustic control due to crowd noise and the surrounding environment
  • Durability and resilience for a major sports venue
  • Thermally efficient systems to support the stadium’s sustainability aims
  • Precise coordination with Laing O’Rourke and other contractors on a complex, multi‑disciplinary site

To meet these expectations, our team focused on selecting and installing systems that matched both the technical and environmental demands of the stadium.

Our Solution

Bennett Architectural fabricated and installed a range of high performance Kawneer systems, chosen specifically to address the project’s security, acoustic, and sustainability requirements.

1. High Security Door Systems

Kawneer AA720 Doors – Enhanced Security to RC2 Standard
These robust door systems delivered the necessary security performance while maintaining clean, modern aesthetics suitable for a premier league stadium.

2. Curtain Walling Systems

  • Kawneer AA110 Curtain Walling
  • Kawneer AA100 Curtain Walling

Both curtain wall systems were selected for:

  • Strong structural performance
  • Acoustic dampening features — essential in a large sporting arena
  • Proven reliability for large‑scale public buildings
  • The systems were built with additional acoustic features to ensure that the systems weren’t damaged by vibrations due to crowd noise.

3. Sustainability & Thermal Efficiency

All glazing systems were chosen and installed with sustainability as a core priority.
Key considerations included:

  • Reducing thermal transfer
  • Improving overall building efficiency
  • Minimising long term operational energy use
  • Extending product lifespan

These choices supported the project’s goal of creating a modern, energy efficient stadium.

Outcome

The glazing installation at Everton’s new stadium stands as a strong example of successful collaboration and technical excellence:

  • All systems installed to a high standard, meeting both performance and architectural requirements
  • Enhanced acoustic and thermal performance across the installed areas
  • Improved security through RC2‑rated entrance solutions
  • Smooth project delivery thanks to close partnership with Laing O’Rourke
  • A modern, durable façade package designed to support the stadium for years to come

We are delighted with how the project has come together and look forward to future opportunities to collaborate on further developments.
