Yorkshire schools

Overview

Bennett Architectural has been providing ongoing servicing and maintenance across seven Yorkshire schools originally commissioned between 2016 and 2017. Working on behalf of Laing O’Rourke, we are responsible for inspecting, maintaining, and replacing glazing and door systems to ensure the buildings remain safe, functional and compliant.

Our role includes diagnosing long‑standing water ingress issues as well as completing targeted rectification work with minimal disruption to staff and students.

The Challenge

Several of the schools reported recurring water ingress issues, affecting both windows and door systems.
Key challenges included:

  • Water infiltration around glazed sections
  • Age related wear on silicone gaskets and EPDM seals
  • Damage to doors caused by day today student use
  • Maintaining site safety and safeguarding protocols on education premises

These issues required a careful, methodical investigation to identify root causes and implement long lasting solutions.

Outcome

Our ongoing work ensures that the Yorkshire schools continue to operate safely and efficiently by:

  • Resolving active water ingress problems
  • Improving overall building performance
  • Extending the lifespan of façade elements
  • Ensuring doors and windows meet safety and operational standards
  • Minimising disruption

The partnership with Laing O’Rourke remains strong as we continue to provide responsive, high‑quality servicing across the school portfolio.
